Mora successfully passed her Viva, and will now be known as Dr Morelia Camacho Cervantes. Mora’s PhD looked at invasive species’ behaviour, and how different behavioural traits influence invasion success. She looked at how interactions between invasive and native fish species shape an invader’s ability to deal with novel conditions and predation risk and explored the behavioural adaptations that are key during the first stages of the invasion process using invasive guppies (Poecilia reticulata) and native to México goodeids. These adaptations are potentially very important in determining whether an invasion succeeds or fails.

Mora has received several awards during her period of postgraduate study, including the SET for Britain Bronze (as featured on header image) and the Science and Technology Junior Merit award from the Michoacán State Government, México.
