Isabel successfully defended her PhD thesis at the University of Aveiro, and was unanimously approved “With Honour and Distinction”. Isabel’s thesis focused on poverty and conservation, and included a multidisciplinary mix of chapters dealing with ecology such as looking at the effects of a locally managed MPA on fish abundance and diversity and of different types of management on fisheries catches, and sociology looking at the drivers of peoples perceptions of their natural resources and types of management.
After her PhD Isabel returns full time to her job as a lecturer at the University of Lurio. We hope to continue to collaborate with Isabel
