Otter on campus

The Biodiversity Literacy team got a photo of one of the local otters as part of this year’s camera trap challenge. It was crossing the Kinnesburn before heading through University land at the beginning of February. Otters are regular in and around St Andrews but they are mostly nocturnal. Best places to look in daylight are the Kinnesburn from the road bridge, the Harbour and along the rocky shore, viewed from the top of the cliffs. Good luck!

It’s a bit Loch Ness monster but you can pick out the head, an ear and an eye, and the body behind. We won’t win an award for this camera trap photo but its enough to show they are here
